This is the Signed unique original Watercolour painting by Paul Rainer.

In this painting John Milton is led away by friends to a tactical imprisonment in the Tower of London under an old warrant. He had frequently been attacked for his 'outrageous' opinions and with the coming of the Restoration in 1658 he became a hunted man.

On hearing that Milton had gone to The Tower voluntarily Milton was pardoned by Charles II on the understanding that the King need not read any of Milton's poetry.
