Lawrence Alma-Tadema
Edmund Swinglehurst, Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. Grange Books, 2001. Alma-Tadema, born in the Netherlands, was an artist particularly drawn to the ancient Romans. He could see a direct parallel between the once-mighty Roman Empire and that which flourished in Britain at the time. Alma-Tadema’s particular forte was painting the Victorians themselves as Romans, in domestic settings, with Roman architecture and Roman artefacts depicted in fascinating detail. This indexed hardcover edition will appeal to fans of classical art and art-nouveau. 144 pages, with dust jacket. Hard Cover Full Colour 9½" x 12½" (23cm x 30cm) Dust Jacket. Sorry, SOLD!
